Railway Technician Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the role of RRB Technician, applicants must meet the age and educational requirements. The eligibility is different for both Technician Grade 1 Signal and Technician Grade 3 posts.
Candidates for Technician Grade 1 Signal must have a degree or diploma in engineering or a B.Sc. in physics, electronics, computer science, information technology, or instrumentation. OR a three-year engineering diploma in any of the aforementioned basic streams, or a degree in engineering in any of the aforementioned basic streams, or a B.Sc. in any sub-stream of the basic streams of physics, electronics, computer science, information technology, or instrumentation from an accredited university or institute.
Candidates must have completed their matriculation, SSLC, and ITI from accredited NCVT/SCVT institutions in order to be considered for the position of Technician Grade 3 in the trades of Forger, Heat Treater, Foundryman, Pattern Maker, and Moulder (Cement). (OR) SSLC or Matriculation plus Completion of Courses Act Apprenticeship in the relevant trades.
Railway RRB Technician Age Limit (as on 01/07/2025)
- Technician Grade 1 Signal: 18–33 years
- Technician Grade 3: 18–30 years
Railway RRB Technician Application Fee
The required application fee must be paid by candidates when they apply for the RRB Technician Vacancy 2025.
- For candidates who are members of the SC, ST, PWD, female, transgender, minority, or economically disadvantaged classes: Rs. 250 (which is fully reimbursed upon taking the CBT assessment).
- Rs. 500 for other categories (refund of Rs. 400 upon appearing in CBT).

Pattern & Syllabus of CBT for Pay Level- 5 Post, i.e., Technician Gr I Signal
(i) Total Duration: 90 min & Total Questions: 100
(ii) There shall be negative marking @1/3rd marks for each wrong answer.
(iii) Normalization of marks will be done for CBT held in multiple shifts
